DEVELOPER BUILD CHANGELOG

UPDATES.

What changed, what is still experimental, and exactly which APK you are testing.

This is active development software. Performance, graphics, controls, setup, and compatibility can break between devices. Keep your original ISO and report reproducible problems.
CURRENT · v2.0.17 DEV

FMV and handheld compatibility fixes

Stops the repeated video renderer handoff seen on Retroid, targets confirmed Samsung and AYN callback crashes, and gives optional GPU drivers visible controls across vendor themes.

How app updates work

Automatic checkThe launcher checks this site's signed release manifest when it opens.
Verified downloadThe APK must match the published SHA-256 checksum and existing signing certificate.
Your game staysAPK upgrades do not replace extracted Skate 3 files or launcher settings.

Android always requires you to approve the final installation. Users on v2.0.7 or older must install v2.0.8 manually once to receive the in-app updater.

Release history

FMV and handheld compatibility fixes

  • Latched FMV fallback until the movie decoder actually stops instead of switching renderers every half second.
  • Added narrow recoveries for the exact Samsung guest return address 0x82B328D4 and AYN guest return address 0x82F2D074.
  • Added checked first-run presentation recoveries for language selection and immediate movie skips.
  • Rebuilt the optional GPU driver chooser with visible, focusable buttons for Samsung, Retroid, and AYN vendor themes.
  • Kept System Driver recommended and selected by default. Imported Turnip drivers remain optional.
  • Verified five initial cold launches plus repeated empty-profile FMV skip tests, gameplay, pause and resume, and physical controls on RG406V.

Qualcomm compatibility and 4:3 HUD

  • Compacted the native Vulkan layout from seven descriptor sets to the portable four-set floor.
  • Targets the pipeline-layout crash reported on Adreno 619 and 650 System Drivers.
  • Kept System Driver as the default and added one-tap recovery from an active custom driver.
  • Added ZIP and ADPKG import plus readable dark GPU-driver dialogs.
  • Added native 4:3 output with safe HUD placement for the combo meter and minimap.
  • Recovered the exact AYN cleanup callback reported at guest return address 0x82B3C95C.
  • Verified two cold System Driver launches and live native gameplay at 60 FPS on RG406V.

AYN Thor content crash hotfix

  • Matched the supplied native stack to guest return address 0x82B3CE2C.
  • Confirmed the stale 0xFFFDFFFF target came from an optional content-validation callback.
  • Returns false only at that exact call site so the retail code follows its normal cleanup path.
  • Keeps every unknown indirect call elsewhere fatal and visible in diagnostics.
  • Verified a clean System Driver launch to the Skate 3 title screen at 60 FPS on RG406V.
  • AYN Thor confirmation is still requested because the device-specific sentinel does not reproduce on the RG406V.

Seiyu included, original skater by default

  • Bundled the verified Seiyu model and texture inside the APK.
  • Kept Original Skater as the default and preserved the live RB + Start character switch.
  • Kept the Mod Store for verified community characters.
  • Added a structured character-submission page and GitHub review form.
  • Moved custom Turnip controls under Advanced Options and stopped imported drivers from enabling automatically.
  • Verified System Driver launch to the Skate 3 title screen at 60 FPS on RG406V.

Custom Turnip drivers and Seiyu rig fix

  • Added optional AdrenoTools driver ZIP imports for Snapdragon and Adreno devices.
  • Kept System Driver as the safe default and launcher recovery path.
  • Added strict package, metadata, size, API, and ARM64 library validation.
  • Restored stable Seiyu feet, body, and flipper mapping from a coherent skeleton palette.
  • Added the selected GPU driver to device diagnostics.

One-tap Mod Store and Seiyu Paradise Penguin

  • Added a data-driven Mod Store to the launcher.
  • Published Seiyu as a verified 2.93 MiB character download.
  • Added Install, Reinstall, Remove, status, and manual import controls.
  • Restricted downloads to HTTPS project hosts, safe mod paths, exact sizes, and SHA-256 hashes.
  • Preserved the original character switch in the RB + Start Mods menu.

Android guest memory and Qualcomm bring-up

  • Reserved the complete guest address range before alias mappings.
  • Added a sparse memfd guest backing object and safe arbitrary-base fallback.
  • Kept Qualcomm devices on the fully bound shared-memory buffer while Adreno testing continues.
  • Added guest-address-space and sparse-residency evidence to bug reports.

Snapdragon compatibility and native crash traces

  • Performance mode no longer compiles disabled shadow, outline-edge, or spline Vulkan pipelines during the gameplay loading transition.
  • Keeps the proven eager topology pipeline path required by the RG406V.
  • Bug reports now include the actual saved graphics profile, native signal, abort message, crashing thread stack offsets, and filtered renderer log lines.
  • Verified from a clean launch through first-time setup into live native gameplay at 60 FPS on the RG406V.

In-app crash reporting

  • Added a Bug Report / Device Diagnostics button to the Android launcher.
  • Prefills the GitHub form with version, device, Android, SoC, profile, input, page size, Vulkan feature level, and recent process exits.
  • Identifies native crashes, Java crashes, ANRs, signals, initialization failures, and memory kills without collecting retail game files or private paths.

Touch controls and easy updates

  • Full multitouch Xbox-style controller with analog sticks, D-pad, face buttons, shoulders, triggers, Start, Back, L3, and R3.
  • Touch input merges with physical player-one input.
  • Automatic update checks and SHA-256 verified APK downloads.
  • Android 4 KB and 16 KB memory-page support retained.

Modern Android memory pages

  • Added 16 KB ELF alignment for current flagship phones.
  • Made native guest-memory protection follow the device page size.
  • Preserved RG406V and other 4 KB device compatibility.

Phone-only setup

  • Added local ISO extraction and supported-file verification.
  • Added verified Title Update 3 installation.
  • Included performance and quality profiles plus the optional Seiyu character switch.

Known limitations

Device coverageThe RG406V is the first verified target. Other ARM64 Vulkan devices still need testing.
GraphicsMissing effects, incorrect materials, texture bugs, and device-specific rendering failures are still possible.
PerformanceA 60 FPS setting is a target and guest cap, not a guarantee on every map or device.
